Students Feedback

I just finished my Master Degree- while attending UMKC. I had the chance to become the graduate teaching instructor. I realized my love of teaching but had little chance to teach in American Public school. That this perfect offered a chance to not only gain the certification but teaching practices both observing and being observed. The location was also a major please. Best Elephants.

To find a program like this on the internet was unbelievable, I actually could not believe it was true. The program had everything I was looking for, which is the opportunity to experience a wonderful new culture and country. I have always enjoyed working with people and the opportunity to be able to not only travel, but to experience a culture and meet friends to last a lifetime!

I have always wanted to teach overseas. I love traveling. I love meeting new people. I am very fascinated with other culture and being in other countries. This special Thai Project. I have always wanted to go to Thailand. I have been really interested in Thai culture and I love the food. The project was ideal because it was for only a half a year and if I want to stay larger then that could be a possibility. It's great to get certificate and then. I can teach other countries as well. But Thailand was my first choice. I have been to Asia and loved it and. I want to go back Thailand was and still in my heart.

I choose this project because I wanted to travel and try teaching. I also love being more than a tourist by actually living amongst the people. These projects allowed me to do are that but also would certify me in TESOL along with giving me hand on experience. I didn't have to worry about committing to a full year like other TESOL teaching positions required. Being a part of the special TESOL project seemed to be the most logical move-now and for my future. Not to mention the Thai culture has always interested me.
LAURA CARR

I chose this project to experience a different culture while be able to travel! Become a part of a community. I enjoy interactions with people and hearing about lives of people. I have experience in worrying with children/teenagers with in an education setting. I wanted to broaden my knowledge. The rewards I opportunities to travel are also appealing. Not to mention getting paid a teacher and meeting new people.

I picked the STP Phuket project because I am very interested in Thailand & would like to the opportunity to interact with locals. I have no teaching background, but I have always thought I would like to teach so this seemed like a great opportunity to try it out. I love working with kids & I think though my experience with Thai children I will get a great understanding of the culture. I have always dreamed of traveling in Asia, so this project will make that come true.

The project seemed very well put together with each step laid out for you. That was a big draw for me. I also loved that once you were certified you could take the certification anywhere. Thailand was the other main reason, because I have always been attracted to south East Asian cultures. I hope this will give me a great emersion education before going to graduate school to study the area further.

I have always wanted to teach overseas and travel, and thought that after I finished university was the best time. My friend, Laura, lead me to the website of this project online and I became very interested. I liked that it was only 5 months especially because it is my first time. I always really wanted to travel to Thailand-especially Phuket because of the beaches. However, I am so excited to teach Thai children English become immersed in a culture that is foreign to my own.

I chose this project for three main reasons. I wanted to take a gap year between graduating from college and starting a career. This program time table is perfect for me. It falls in Line with the hiring cycle for universities. The last reason is that classroom teaching experience looks very good on my resume. I know that I will be able to use this experience to help me get a job back in the states.

A few reasons
1- I want to see the world, and experience culture without being a tourist. Having a job and interacting with people will enable me to do so.
2- I love kids.
3- I love Asia because I am very into the cuisine and culture. I worked at many Asian restaurants in New York City and fell in love with the people and cuisine. I plan to end up in Japan, but Thailand is a nice stepping stone.
4- To find a lovely Asian wife. (he he)

The special TESOL project in Phuket accommodated my interest in travel and teaching. I have always had the desire to travel/study abroad and never did due to my involvement in rowing. The sport required much time dedication, not allowing for much free time. After graduation, I knew would travel and found my reading about Thailand must excite. I have been watching rowing for two years and I love teaching the sport. I definitely see myself teaching for along time to come and found the special TESOL project in Phuket to be an ideal starting point due to the mixture of teaching and traveling.

I chose to take on this project, because I love the students and I love to teach. The opportunity presented itself as an opportunity to teach in country other than America and discover the level of commitment in other countries of culture as well as see if all students are as lovable and enthralling as those in the U.S.
