Students Feedback

This project gave me the opportunity to not only try and learn basic teaching skills, it also gave me a chance to travel and explore a part of the world I had only dreamed of seeing. I also liked that upon completion of TESOL course, we are placed in schools here in Thailand, therefore extending our stay in the country. This allows us time to truly experience the Thai culture.
Natalie Anne Kujala,  USA

I choose to take the American TESOL Institute because I wanted to experience not only the joy of travelling, but also learn about the culture, people and tradition in a fuel emersion situation. This program seemed to offer all of these 'wishes' and your staff and support made that decision easy.
Jessica Kujala,  USA

I chose to take up this project because I love to teach and I wanted to travel and experience another culture. I feel it will help me now both personally and professionally. I figure it will also be lots of fun.
Lisa Evans,  USA

I was unhappy with my job at home! I should have been a teacher as soon as I graduated from college but was not certified. Also, I think I was just bored with my life in general. I left nothing behind besides family and friends. One day after work I began looking up teach English abroad programs found this one. I applied on a whim found out 2 days later I got accepted. I am very excited to be here, I have this opportunity to teach in Thailand.
Laura M. Cox,  USA

I chose to take up this project because I enjoy travelling and view teaching English as a great opportunity to extend my travels indefinitely.
Amber Hessebein,  USA

I chose to take up this project in order to have the experience of teaching my native language to those in a different country. I have always wanted o teach and this will be a good stepping stone. As well, I have always wanted to travel to Thailand.
Esabella Lledos,  USA

As with many other students here today I have a love for traveling. Meeting as many people from all over the world and learning as much as I can from them is a lifelong goal. I also love to teach and help other to reach goals. I have of course never worked within a classroom environment but have taught a skill- kayaking- for many years. The feeling you get from helping someone complete a goal or an obstacle is like no other. I am excited to be I Asia and to teach English.
Mary Beny,  USA

I was interested in teaching English and started an online course. However I felt that it would be beneficial to learn in the classroom. I liked the idea of a short placement to see how I enjoy teaching. Also, I am traveling alone for a year and Thailand is a great place to start. Teaching in Asia offers the opportunity to learn about the culture.
Louise Maclean,  Scotland

I had been teaching in the UK for 2 years and decided that wanted to try something new. I knew that I wanted to try teaching in another country and Thailand seemed like a good place to come to because I had been once before and left wanting to see and learn more about teaching.
Alison Shipp,  England

I always wanted to teach abroad to learn more about education in other countries. Also I traveled to Asia before and that made me want to learn more about this interesting part of the world. I think that this project is the best way to practice my profession over years and to discover Thailand. I truly believe that education is important for helping the future adults to become responsible citizens.
Myline,  Canada

After working for some time in my current employment I decided that I would like a change. As my girlfriend Mylene has just recently finished her degree in teaching, we together decided that we would spend a period of time teaching in another country. After looking at a number of projects we felt this would offer the experience and adventure we were looking for.
David Thomas,  Canada

After college I knew I wanted to start working within the education sector. I have always been passionate about teaching but have had limited experience within a classroom. I felt this project would be a wonderful opportunity to expand my knowledge. Also my other passion is travelling and learning about other cultures around the world. I felt that this program in Thailand would combine my two interests and provide experience for my future jobs. ATI also is affordable and allowed me to not to broke!
Kelly Giotta,  USA

I really wanted to do something with dimension and substance. I love language and culture, and I as a writer hope to explore new sides of English. I also love traveling and am so interested in exploring, starting with the food and far beyond. ATI, specifically, offered a way to experience a new, interesting place while working toward a goal,  receiving a certificate at a reasonable rate.
Eric Millman,  USA

I wanted to travel with a way to support myself. Regionally, I wanted an area located in the tropics and I didn't want to make a year long commitment. This program fulfilled both requirements. Also, I researched the credentials of the program and was satisfied that it was legitimate and would provide the skills necessary to effectively teach.
David Hoffman,  USA

I chose to take this project because I really wanted to travel around Asia and be able to stay in one place for a long period of time to better understand the culture. I also wanted a program that was shorter than a year and love kids and wanted to teach.
Elizabeth Tarkington,  USA

My boyfriend Tyler and I wanted to do some traveling, so we tried to find a way to help pay for it. We had some friends who were also teaching English through a different program. So we decided to look for one for us, we researched online and decided that Thailand would be a great place to teach and learn about a new culture.
Jazmin,  USA

I chose this project in order to travel, learn and become immersed in a new culture.

More integrated and affordable than doing CELTA/ TRINITY. Accommodating self, and finding a job. Variety of locations, attractive website. Job placement good start to find work round the world, starting TEFL career.
Trudi Gilmore,  UK

I choose this project because of the opportunity to live in another culture. I have traveled to many places, but never for a significant amount of time. This program was a great way for me to teach my culture and learn about Thailand.
Dan Anderson,  USA

I decided to take this program as a means of foreign travel. I have traveled extensively in the past, but felt something was lacking. I feel that teaching is a way to give back to the community which you are experiencing. I felt that seeing this certificate would offer structure to the teaching process.
Travis Anderson,  USA

This program combines two things that I love, teaching and travelling. I just graduated and I wanted to go to Asia to work. I have taught classes in Math and Graphic design. I really enjoy teaching and I am excited to be in Asia.
Sarah Lutkenhaus,  USA

I chose this project because I had an interest in visiting Thailand and South East Asia and I have an interest in eventually teaching. While I was looking into other programs, ATI offered a salary and intensive orientation program, something other organizations did not.
I am interested in traveling to other parts of Asia as well, so this program offered the flexibility to have that.
Christine Garvey,  USA

This project gave me the opportunity to travel, teach and live abroad. I have always wanted to teach and I love to travel. I have lived abroad but only in English speaking countries. I have wanted to experience Asia. This gives me the chance to teach and really get to experience the true Thailand. I think it will be very rewarding.
